Couples Counselling

When seeking couple counselling make sure you find a therapist who has been trained specifically in relationship counselling. In our practice two of our therapist have been trained and specialised in couple counselling.

If you are experiencing any of the following, now is a time to do something like couple counselling:

  • A lot of arguments of relationship conflict – your conversations just go round and round in never-ending circles
  • When you talk to your partner you feel your not been heard.
  • You can’t talk for long before it turning into a shouting match.
  • Your afraid to bring up a certain subject, things may get even worse.
  • After you talk you feel frustrated and confused.
  • There’s nothing left to say ( most dangerous of all ).

Ideally, you should go to couple counselling together.  Couple counselling works by giving you both the chance to be heard. Counselling is an opportunity to look at the problem in a different way with someone who’ll respect and encourage your opinions and decisions.

With many couples the solution is right under their nose – it just takes someone neutral to help you access your resources within and see what it is. Its like saying “you can’t see the wood for the trees” couples counsellors are trained wood – spotters!

In as like as six weeks couples have found huge changes in their relationship with couple counselling. The couple counsellor with help you through areas of difficulties.

Example.

1 Exploring your story – the nature of the problems and what impacts they’re having on your  relationship. The history of  how the problems arose and what changes you’d like to see.

2 Understanding your story – why you’re both struggling with the problems and the things that may be preventing you from overcoming them.

3 Rewriting your story – finding the strengths and resources to resolve your difficulties, or at least make them more bearable.
